the term big (or small) is a personal descriptive word, ie. it is as big as you want it to be, like I may think something costs a lot, but you may think it is not so expensive.
I may say an elephant is big. but in comparison to what? the rest of the animal kingdom or myself, it is.

Anything that is over normal size. For example the big wheel because wheels are normally around 21inches. Big pants because they are bigger than skimpy thongs, so i think that it depends on the original size of the thing/person/item that you are referring to.
