Windex is hard to beat, but distilled vinegar does a good job too. Use just a newspaper to wipe smear-free, changing to a new sheet often.
Mirrors, especially in bathrooms or in houses in the winter time or car windows that steam up or fog easily can be stopped with a bar of soap. When the condensation appears, have a bar of soap handy and rub all over the mirror, without adding extra water. Using either a dry towel, or a newspaper, and rub the soap off. This leaves a very thin clear film on the glass and helps prevent refogging. Try this on your next bathroom mirror or car window. Guaranteed to work and lasts for usually a couple of weeks, depending on whether you rewipe with anything.

Straight rubbing alcohol. It also works great diluted with water. Just attach a spray nozzle. Don't add ammonia, it can streak. Make sure you are using a clean cloth or paper towel. Sometimes the cloth can cause streaking if it has residue on it. This is a cheap and easy way to clean and sanitize all types of shiny surfaces, including glass and mirrors. It also gets hairspray off wonderfully. Windex and off brand glass cleaners always leaves streaks. It's got to be the ammonia in it.

Go to a hardware store or Wal-Mart in the paint department and buy a pint of denatured alcohol. Pick up a large plastic pump spray bottle at the same time.
Mix 1 cup alcohol and 3 cups water in the spray bottle. Spray on the windows, wipe dry with paper towels. Your windows will sparkle and be streak-free.

It's either InvisiGlass, or Invisible Glass. They sell it for cleaning car windshields, but it works great on normal windows. If you use a crumpled up newspaper with it, it works even better. It's a bit pricey, but lasts a long time. My brother bought my mom some for her car and she uses it a lot in the house and in her car, and there's still a bunch left in the can, and we've had it for two years. A little bit goes a long way.

There's a new product out, better than Windex. WallMart has it and it's called Invisible Glass made by Stoner. It comes in a can and works great! Give it a try.
