Do you mean an Imperial gallon? It's about 20% more than a US gallon. It's still equal to 4 Imperial quarts, but 4.8 US quarts. It's also equal to 160 Imperial ounces, whereas a US gallon is 128 US ounces, but an Imperial ounce is .96 of a US ounce and it just gets so confusing.

Anywho, an Imperial gallon is equal to 4.546 liters. The US gallon is equal to 3.785 liters. Now you know why everyone else went metric.
