The 9/11 commission emphanically stated that there were NO ties between Iraq and Al Queida. And they are NOT a liberal, commie, socialist, left-wing moon bat or any other slur you want to call anyone who does not believe the Bush lies.

Before 11 September 2001, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained. But chemical agents and lethal viruses and shadowy terrorist networks are not easily contained. Imagine those 19 hijackers with other weapons, and other plans - this time armed by Saddam Hussein. It would take just one vial, one canister, one crate slipped into this country to bring a day of horror like none we have ever known.
President Bush in his State of the Union address, January 2003. He made these comments in the context of the links he perceived between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda.

They have no choice but to continue to believe so. It is hard to admit that you've been so wrong on such an important issue - especially when its your enemy who has been correct. For them to admit there folly would cause them to question everything else they are equally adamant about. Its really a psychological issue more than anything else.

Actually, Bush never said Iraq had anything to do with 9/11. The only people that propagate that lie are left wing bloggers and talking heads on radio who use it to accuse Bush of lying - a lie within a lie.
[edit, additional info]
care to provide a reference? I'm sure if what you say is true it'd be on the web somewhere, otherwise point me to where I can find the tape.
[edit, references]
Did you actually read that link? It's a BBC report about various addresses by Bush - by the way it includes the statement “US President George W Bush has explicitly stated for the first time that there is NO evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved in the 11 September attacks. “ (emphisis mine). I read thorough that reference. I didn't read anything that would make me think someone was linking Iraq to 9/11. In fact, there were a few denials that we had any evidence that Iraq had a hand in it. If people heard those things and got the impression that Iraq was responsible or partially responsible for 9/11 how is that Bushes fault? Let’s review:
“Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror. “
>>>Generic terrorism statement, no 9/11 reference.
“We also must never forget the most vivid events of recent history. On 11 September, 2001, America felt its vulnerability - even to threats that gather on the other side of the earth. We resolved then, and we are resolved today, to confront every threat, from any source, that could bring sudden terror and suffering to America.”
>>>Reference to 9/11, nothing about Iraq
“Before 11 September 2001, many in the world believed that Saddam Hussein could be contained. “
>>>References 9/11 as a historical event, poses the HYPOTHETICAL that Saddam Hussein could do far worse, not that he had anything to do with 9/11.
“The terrorists have lost a sponsor in Iraq. And no terrorist networks will ever gain weapons of mass destruction from Saddam Hussein's regime. “
>>>Again, generic terrorist reference, not to the 9/11 hijackers.
“For America, there will be no going back to the era before 11 September 2001, to false comfort in a dangerous world. We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength.
They are invited by the perception of weakness. And the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people is to engage the enemy where he lives and plans.
We are fighting that enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan today so that we do not meet him again on our own streets, in our own cities. “
>>>Reference to 9/11 as defining event. Says we are fighting terrorists (not the 9/11 sponsors) in Iraq and Afghanistan – which is true.
“We've learned that Iraq has trained al-Qaeda members in bomb-making and poisons and deadly gases. And we know that after 11 September, Saddam Hussein's regime gleefully celebrated the terrorist attacks on America.
Some citizens wonder, after 11 years of living with this problem, why do we need to confront it now? And there's a reason. We've experienced the horror of 11 September. “
>>>This is the ONE thing you can point to that says Bush tries to relate Iraq to 9/11 – and it was a weak statement at that. In any case, since he has also denied any evidence that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11 it’s hardly a valid argument that Bush is the one that’s been pushing the idea.
The rest of the comments in that piece you’ve sited are all DENIALS, BY Bush administration officials that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.

People know they are two different situations. They have the common thread of terrorist activity going through both but no one thinks Iraq has anything to do with 9/11.

Will might be right- it was mostly Cheney who made the connection between 9/11 and Iraq. Bush just failed to correct him.

As the one gentleman said before.. Saddam had ties to many terrorist organizations. and that is a fact, and that is the reason we got him out of power...

9/11 was a planned deliberate excuse by our government to be able to go and invade the Middle East, with public support behind them. America is just imperialist s, who want oil, money, and power that comes with ting the Middle East. There were never ists, just the government creating .

You really believe everything you hear w/o doing research first? Saddam had ties to terrorist organizations. While he didn't have direct ties with 9/11, Saddam along with others, are at blame for supporting the terrorist and their radical ideas.
