No. Child support is a legal obligation. You CAN modify the amount by giving the other party credit for things. In most states, the minimum amount of child support is $25.00 per week.

Only if you go back in front of the judge to do so, you will more than likely have to hire an attorney for this. Or if you already have one then maybe your lawyer and the other parties lawyer can come to some agreement to stop the support. But keep in mind you will more than likely not want to do so if something happens down the road. Just from personal experience, if the father is a big part of the childs life and helps you in anyway he can then I would say go ahead and stop it, but if he doesnt help or doesnt care then keep the child support going!

I am sure it depends on where you live. But i know in MI you can't unless you have someone to take over the absent parents responisbilites, such as financial care.

Hope that helped ya...

Depends on where you live. CP may have to petition the court to do so. Consult an attorney.

why would you want to? that money is your child's. if you don't want it, put it in a savings for college....or mail it to me because my ex owes $20k in back child support, lol. :-)

i understand you may want to avoid certain situations with dealing with your ex but the money really is owed to your children...regardless of the circumstances.

good luck :-)
