I am using a Belkin Pre-N Router with the corresponding Belkin Adapter, but I first tried Linksys. While I do not much care for Linksys, I can say it IS important to have easy access to your Network Connections. I strongly suggest you remove the Adapter using the "Safely remove hardware" feature which is accessable via the taskbar, then remove the corresponding software which should also remove the drivers. Then reinstall the software and drivers and put the Adapter back in when instructed. See if this gets the icon working properly. Now, if it doesn't you can try two other options. The first one is to determine if you are using the Linksys Network Configuration Utility or Windows. I always use Windows as I have found it less likely to malfunction when doing diagnostics and if a repair is required. If you are using the Linksys then go ahead and remove everything again, then reinstall and select the option to use the Windows Configuration utiltliy. You will need to go into the properties box of your Adapter and make sure the check box on the Wireless Network Tab "Use Windows to configure my Wireless Connection" is selected. In fact if you are using the Windows Configuration Utility go and check first and make sure that box is checked then see if the icon works afterwards. The next thing you can do is go to the Linksys website and check for an updated version of your Adapter software. If there is one then download it to your desktop. Then removoe the Adapter using the Safely Remove Hardware applet, remove the old software, install the new software and then insert the Adapter when instructed. Make sure you select Use Windows Configuration Utility when you get to the section giving you the choice between Linksys and Windows Configuration Utilities. If that is what you choose to use that is. If these things do not work, I suggest you contact Linksys tech support and have a technician walk you through fixing this problem.

Don't leave an important utility in a state of nonfunctioning. It is important to have all the tools you need to manage and support your Wireless Network. It can be frustrating to have to go the long way around in accessing these features, when a single right click and a selection will get you where you need to be quickly.

Good luck fixing your icon, and have a really nice day!
