Many people say it is religion, Satan, power, education, government, human sprit, etc. I already have my own view what the source of evil comes from, but I'm interested in what most of you out there think. Where do you think evil comes from or do you believe that evil is just a concept?
Please, no rude comments.
I put this question in this genre, because I did not know where this type of question would fit.

What is evil? Greed, malice, spite, hatred, psychotic impulses?
I think that they are all rooted in fear. What is fear? This is the lack of love and faith. So maybe evil is rooted in a lack of love and faith.

Religion is a human invention, part of it is to explain the unknown (God did it) and part is to tell us how to live. Notice that all of the things that are said to be good are those things that keep society on a nice, even keel, and the bad things are those that do not. Your society would collapse if robbery were allowed, same with murder, etc. So the concepts of good and evil are human inventions created to promote stable societies.

Evil exists only in the mind of the beholder. It is a judgment people make. GW Bush thinks Saddam is evil. Saddam thinks GW is evil. Americans think "terrorists" are evil. "Terrorists" think America is evil. Who is correct? Nobody.
I believe judgment is evil. The ability to separate things and people into good and bad allows us to "punish" that which we call bad. Look at all the carnage that has resulted from the dispute over abortion. Bombing clinics in the name of God is no different from suicide bombings in the name of Allah. Neither of these things could happen without the idea that something or someone is "good" and the other thing or person is "bad."
Adam and Eve fell from grace after gaining the "knowledge of good and evil"
Judgment exists in the minds of people, causing people to hurt other people. That is evil.

Evil is a concept much like spirituality. Each is only defined by the believer, and you determine what is evil and not. Rationally, this is usually a perameter within what society considers moral. So your question can really only be answered by you.

I think everyone has it in them to be evil...whether we choose to act upon our "evil" instincts or not is up to us. We all have the freedom to choose what we want to do in our lives...such as follow the rules, or break them.
I believe that most people turn to evil based on greed though...a lot of the evil that comes in this world is from money, and envy of what others have...a lot of the evil is based on the seven deadly sins...
If people were not so greedy in this world--I truly feel that there would not be as much evil.

evil is not giving the glory back to God that is due him
God made a good and even very good world it was good but with the potential to change to stay good or to fall. As far as I know the oriigin of evil is still not a completely open and shut explaination and an open question.

Women. !Joke!
I have pondered that question many times. I think it is an extreme form of selfishness.
Evil as I believe, is hurting people and taking pleasure from it.
I think most people do evil because it gives them a feeling of power.(over others). That they are better than they are. To me, that is selfishness in it's most extreme form.

"i'm God and there is not any different; except me there is not any God. i am going to gird you, in spite of the reality that you probably did not recognize Me, only so those from east and west might want to recognize there is *not something* as well Me; i'm God and there is not any different. i'm the man who varieties user-friendly and creates darkness; who makes peace AND CREATES EVIL; i'm God, Maker of those sorts of." Isaiah 40 5:5-7 (interior the Hebrew bible.) note: the be conscious there for "evil" is "ra". It ability EVIL. It does not mean "disaster" or "disaster" or something else that the Christians have translated it as. It ability evil. In Judaism we trust each and every little thing comes from God. we do not trust in 2 Creators/Gods as Christians do with devil and God the position one creates solid and one creates evil. there is not any theory in Judaism that devil became eco-friendly with envy of God's ability and revolted against him and tries to take over God's kingdom. Christianity apparently positioned it mutually via mistranslating a number of unrelated verses and got here up with this theory. In Judaism, devil is an angel who does not something yet God's will - he's more beneficial like a prosecuting legal professional who brings our e book of existence earlier God after we die. he's not going round attempting to take over God's function or kingdom in any respect.

Actually it's all of the above that you have mentioned and then some. Except I exclude satan as I do not believe in his existence. I think greed, selfishness, power, certain mental conditions.
