Brush your teeth with baking soda! I 've done it before...just don't use a lot of baking soda...a little goes a long way. If you do it for about a week you'll definetely notice a different, but it won't be dramatic. Also...strawberries are also good for whitening teeth. Just chewing on them works like those whitener gums...same concept.
Instead of mouth wash you can also use peroxide water, but it won't really get your any whiter...it'll just make them really squeaky clean. Don't use the peroxide to often or you'll upset the balance of "good" bacteria in your mouth.
Some things you can do to cut the staining is less coffee, cigarettes and red wines.
Stuff that works and that you can buy from the store: so far the only toothpaste that really works to get teeth whitened is Rembrandt.
Crest white strips are good too. My roomate swears by them!!
Good luck!

There are the whitening strips that if you use regularly will work. But there are also whitening toothpaste, I suggest Rembrandt. I've also heard of using a capful of peroxide, the brown bottle used for minor cuts. Swishing it around for a minute everyday is supposed to help. Other then that, there are whitening mouthwashes, Listerine has one out now, but it kinda tastes bad. Anything else I don't know of except bleaching by a dentist.
Good Luck

Just using hydrogen peroxide as a rinse can help. Peroxide is in more whitening teeth whitening agents. There should be directions on the back of the bottle with everything else. Doesn't taste great, don't swallow it, yes it will foam a lot ( I prefer to just let it sit for ~30sec with slight swishing), but it's cheap and you use the same amount as mouth wash.

my dentist told me that if you use a whitening toothpaste just brush for about a minute a day, starting the paste on the front you will get the same effect as you would from any home improvement, ( he's right, hes 75 yr old, not tryin to make a million) ive heard Brite Smile ( that only your dentist can administer) does make a great smile

Get some peanut butter (1/4 cup and fish oil 1/4 cups). Rub it onto your teeth for 5 hours while messaging it all around. Teeth will get whiter after 1 week!

Brush with Baking Soda. Just wet your brush a bit then takes some baking soda on the brush like toothpaste. If you hate the taste you can brush your teeth with real toothpaste afterword.
