well you have to play with it a lot and if you don't then it will just have to hang out in there but you know its nutirnal so at night hampsters play in there cage and spin in the wheel and so if you have a fish tank you would have to connect a wheel and it would take a lot of work to get all that stuff in there ps i had a hampster named sammy and it died and i got another hampster actually i got 2 hampsters and they both shared the same hampster cage the same cage that sammy died in i just cleaned it out and they are still alive and i got them 3 years ago

It is a better Idea to use a fish tank than a hamster cage to hold a hamster, because it is large enough to give the room a hamster REALLY needs to get exercise. Get a wire mesh top for it, and keep it secure on the top, you will probably need a large water bottle to hang from the top so that it will be the right height for the hamster can drink comfortably.

Well I think you should get a new Hamster cage because I think the hamster would maybe not like It as much. But whatever you like is fine. but If you want you could also get a fish. Well that's what I think.

A fish tank should be fine for a while. At least until you can get another cage. Sorry for your daughter's loss.

I've had problems keeping rodents in fish tanks. They just don't seem to get enough ventilation, even with screen tops. I've noticed that rats kept in glass tanks get respiratory infections more often that ones kept in cages.
