If I buy a USB sound card, and plug it into my computer, will it automatically take over from the existing sound card, or would I have to disable the existing sound card to get the USB one to work? How would I disable the existing sound card, if that is neededdd?

to answer your question.. no, its not that simple. if i was sitting infront of your computer, and you gave me 10 mins with it, i could give you a theretical answer of yes or no, but really the best thing for you to do is find an independant shop, that will let u take it back if it doesnt work.
1st check too see what type of usb ports you have 1.1 or 2 powered or not - tell the guy at the shop what you have

1. install drivers from cd
2. plug in usb sound card

if it doesnt work 1st go, you need to find a computer tech..

You will ned to remove (or at least disable the card through the control panel) and un-install the existing sound card and its drivers and card dependent software.

There will be drivers and software for the USB device.

If it is a USB device you simply plug it into a USB port on your computer (a rectangular socket). Install the CD you received with the product and hey presto!!!

It will have an install CD and a manual. It's probably very easy. It's probably something like first install the software. Then plug in the device. The new software will automaticly sense it and your in business.

you will desire to re-deploy the drivers to your sound card, no longer your audio device. bypass into administration Panel, device, Hardware, device supervisor. you will desire to be sure a yellow ! in front of your sound card. Delete that and the different yellow !'s you notice and re-boot. it relatively is going to re-deploy the drivers to your sound card and it relatively is aspects. reckoning on your working device and which sound card you have, you may desire the CD to your sound card or you may would desire to get carry of the driving force in case you do not have a CD.
