stuck in the 7th century, too bad they have oil or they would be starving nomads. look at iran before the ayatollah took over in the 70's or Lebanon in the 70's they were well on their way to being modern, most of their people want a modern culture and they practice it behind closed doors. But they let old men with dirty little beards run them into the ground with their interpretation of the Koran

Most of the major religious have peace as one of their core beliefs. Christianity. Islam. Judaism. Shinto. Wicca. Buddhism. And so on.
Sadly, not everyone who calims to follow those religions actually practice those beliefs, and some turn to violence despite what their religions says.

If you are talking about Islam then, theoretically it is but practically it is not. More or less, it is a dilemma with all religions because religions are inherited and taught / made to believe true compulsorily since the childhood.

I am sick and tired to hear from Muslims that Islam is a "peaceful" religion(!)
