My daughter had this same thing happen to her Piggie- we went to the vet and he gave us some pain meds that didn't do anything- we had come to the conclusion to put it to sleep and then I logged on the internet and learned that the poor thing probably had scurvy- we weren't feeding her anything but guinea pig food (that was supposedly fortified with vitamin C) but guinea pigs need atleast 1 cup of fruits and veggies a day that are high in Vitamin C- since they do not produce Vitamin C on their own. The poor thing was actually paralyzed from not getting the right food- we hand fed her for about 4 weeks- romaine lettuce, spinach, oranges, apples, etc...and after about 2-3 weeks she slowly regained the use of her legs- after about 6-7 weeks she was almost back to 100%. Lucky for me, I didn't have to put the piggie to sleep or try to swap out the guinea pig during the night to avoid my daughter being upset over losing her guinea pig.
Also- the piggie was still peeing and pooing- but she literally could not get up to go in her usual corner- so we were having to give her a bath several times a day to keep her clean. What amazed us when we first realized she was sick was - she wanted to eat and drink but couldn't get to the dish or water bottle unless we held it right in front of her.
Maybe this isn't the entire case for you and your pet but make sure the piggie is getting the right foods and enough water.
good luck!

Depends on the dog and the guinea pig. It took about a month or two for my Boston terrier to be okay with my guinea pigs. The guinea pigs warmed right up to my dog. I just had to teach my dog not to attack them and try to eat them. Since you are going to have a puppy, they are going to be extremely hipper and might stomp on the pigs without even noticing. Slowly introduce them, and NEVER leave them alone together.

She could be allergic to the food shes getting. Try changing brands. She could have a tummy bug, or something, too. As long as shes peeing and pooping a few times a day, she is probably okay. Give it another day or 2, on a different food, even, and then take her back in. If she starts puking or she isnt peeing or pooping for a full day, take her in. Also, if she has gunk around her eyes, or her nose is wetter or drier than usual, or has anything coming out of it, take her in. She might, again, just have a virus, or something, but she could also be allergic to her food or bedding. Allergies CAN develop, so change foods every so often, to avoid a developed allergy.. same with bedding.

I hope your guinea pig will be ok....if u can, get in touch with a specialized exotic animal vet(maybe ask the first vet if he/she can recommend one)....try the website below for info on Vitamin C defiency(scurvy or scorbutis), Heat Stress, Intestinal Infections(Bacterial Enteritis)....they are possibilities....how old is your guinea pig? They only live 3 or 4 years(but can live as many as 6 or 7 yrs).

Take her to a vet who knows more about exotics. Make sure that you are giving her vitamin C tablets every day. It is not good for a guinea pig to stop eating - once they stop, they often refuse to start eating again and there is nothing you can do. Good luck!

A guinea pig is not an exotic pet...check Google for care of your pet and 'signs and symptoms of a guinea pig'
hope that helps!
