There are two franchises that have been around since 1876, albeit not under the name they now have.

The Braves started in Boston as the Redcaps, then were the Beaneaters from 1883-1906, the Doves from 1907-10, the Rustlers in 1911, the Braves from 1912-1935, the Bees from 1936-1940, back to the Braves in 1941. They moved to Milwaukee in 1953 and stayed there until 1965, then moved to Atlanta in 1966.

The other is the Cubs, who started as the White Stockings (ironic, eh?) but changed to the Colts in 1890, were known as the Orphans from 1898-1901, before becoming the Cubs in 1902.

Atlanta Braves are the oldest and most continuous. They started out in Boston as the Red Stockings, and then moved to Milwaukee and then Atlanta, but the club essentially stayed intact.

There was a Cincinnati Red Stockings started in 1866 in but they disbanded and became the Boston Red Stockings.

The current Cincinnati Reds organization has nothing to do with the original Cincinnati Red Stockings.

The long continuous name in team sports is the Philadelphia Phillies. They have been called the Phillies since 1891 and the team has been around since 1883.
