I see. But seems to be a tough job to handle isn't it? Does he/she need to fork out expenses of his own to see the will execute?

Marshall all the assets, pay final expenses of the decedent, and distribute the assets according to terms of the will. Also need to file final tax returns.

The Executor is appointed by the court to represent the will provisions. Commissioner and executor sign checks and spend the cash assets of the deceased. They also must aggressively collect all amounts due the estate. Some are refunds due.
If you don't have a will you don't need to go into probate court. You also don't need to answer to the court as to how you spent the estate and on what.

They are responsible to collect the assets and debts of the estate. Required to pay debts of estate and settle estate in probate court.
