in the system tray (the part of your start-bar where the clock is) there is an icon that looks like two computers linked. double click it, and it shows your connection stats (up/down speed, etc.)

Ok get yur mouse and scroll accross the bottom of the screen (near your clock). And hold it on an icon that would look like anything related to the internet or your connection. and if you can, click on it.

there are severl speedtest site, speedtest.net or speedtest.nl alternativley just download something and check out what ur browser indicates...
