My only option is total abstinence. If I drink one beer, I will drink twenty. If I eat one slice of pizza, I will eat every slice of pizza. I want a beer so bad but know if I have one I will start drinking heavily again. Hwo do I learn self control?

See a psychiatrist. They will teach you how to control this and they will prescribe a medication that will also help.

Maybe you need Depakote, perhaps you are Bi-polar.
I am no doctor but sounds like it could be.....
