Back in the late 1990's, the high school and college parking lots looked like honda dealerships on steroids. Everybody had a honda with body kits and racing rims. Where did all those hondas go? I noticed that hardly anyone has a honda now, everybody's driving SUV's or other asian cars. Who is driving those hondas young people used to drive? I need a good answer.

Just look in the Dodge City High School parking lot. You will probably find all of them.

I can only speculate that increased competition has reduced the number of young college students with Civics. A decade or so ago, the Civic was the #1 option but now there's more choices: Scion, Mazda 3, etc.
Also, keep in mind the Civic has "grown-up" some and is not the inexpensive, entry level car it used to be. In fact, Honda (and Toyota and Nissan) has a new entry level car - the Fit. The Civic is larger than an Accord of 15 years ago. In 1994 my parents bought a loaded Accord for 19K - you can't get a loaded Civic for under 20K now. It's also cheaper to buy a used Acura Integra/RSX and modify it than to get a new Civic and modify.
I see MANY new Civics on the road but that may be the area I live as Japanese cars dominate the roads. However, I don't see many that are modified. I actually see many more modified Acura Integra/RSXs than modified Civics.
Another reason for fewer Civics recently might have been the dislike of the previous generation Civic by the compact sports car tuners. Honda went back to the Civic's roots with the current generation. Personally, I love the new Si!

All I can say is where I live, Hondas are EVERYwhere. I like them but didn't get one because they are way TOO popular.
My last car was a Toyota Paseo and NO ONE where I lived had one. And it was in really good condition so everyone thought it was a cool little sports car.
I just recently bought a brand new Mazda 6 Sports Edition and again, no one where I live has one...Mazdas in general are not driven. People here still seem to lower end domestic cars:( I'm a little saddened though because someone just bought a Mazda Speed 6 so I'm not at the top any more, oh well, will have to improve next time.

cops love to go after those civics. they will pull a honda over before a muscle car or suv. i have a 95 4-door ex and i decided to leave it mostly stock cause i get pulled over more in it than i do in my 77 firebird (which is a heck of lot faster and louder than my civic). i even asked a cop about this and he said to leave it stock cause he would go after it before most other cars.
