With the youth and beauty obsessed culture we live in, its very hard to grow older.

There are many positive aspects to being older, and in other countries, elderly people are respected very highly for their experience and wisdom.

How can we change our attitude about getting older in America?

Todays cultural / sociatal mores on beauty & youth are largely
a result of the disintegration of the extended family in Western Civilization, and in particular the USA..
Other than somehow getting multi-generation extended family
units back into the same household , I don't know how to change
the situation...
Sean Connery , Harrison Ford and the like are the best representatives for the aging in our population..
Unfortunately, women seem to age cosmetically worse than men.

I wish I knew. I am 27 years old and am constantly being criticized by my friends for "dressing too old" and wearing my hair in an unhip fashion. They criticize my 97 Lincoln Town Car and they criticize my choice in music, mostly classical or simply talk radio. I try not to let their words bother me but it is hard.

Make everybody realize they will grow older regardless of if they like it or not.
