First off, I am sorry to hear of your situation. It seems thats there ARE actually good fathers out there...Hmmm, I'm glad your one of them. To actually step up and take responsibility? AWESOME. I only hope you can continue to help her out in other ways besides situations like this one. You'll do fine!

Growing up is such a crucial experience especially for young girls. How did you figure she needs a bra? If she let you know, then she must be comfortable enough to trust you....Very nice. Well, if you wanna stay on a budget and keep them simple, which I suggest since she's 10 anyway, go for a training bra, maybe some colorful patterns but nothing more. Check out Wal-mart, Target, or even Kmart. If you would like, try a dept. store. See if a sales associate can assist you. Maybe a lady friend of yours or a close relative like an aunt can help her figure out what fits for her size. Don't go to Victoria's Secret please. Exposing her to sexy lingerie will not be something too appealing for the both of you. Once thats done, it'll be a breeze to continue shopping for more of her undergarments. Good Luck sir, and have a good weekend!!

JC Penny's, at least the ones near me, has special days once a month for bra fittings. They'll still do fittings on other days, but on that day there will be a lot more girls there, so it might not be as uncomfortable for her.

It would probably be best to get a woman take her for the first time, because I would imagine that it would be pretty uncomfortable for most men to have to determine if a bra fits.

If you do end up taking her, it's usually fairly hard to guess what size band she would need, because most people would guess that the band size would be smaller. If you have your daughter hook the middle snap on the back of the bra and you can see the fabric strain, you should go up a size. The band size is the measurement around her ribcage in inches plus five more inches. Bras can usually only be found in even sizes, so round up if it's an odd number.

To figure out the cup size, you measure around the fullest part of her breasts and then subtract the band size from it. If the difference is 1" then it's an A, 2" for a B, 3" for a C, and 4" for a D. If she's wearing a bra when you measure her, it should be an unpadded one, because a sports bra or padded bra would effect the size.

The bottom of the band should run across the middle of her back and pass under the shoulder blades. You should be able to fit one finger between the straps and her back. There's a good chance that you'll have to adjust the straps of the bra to get a proper fit. Have her pull her t-shirt back on over the bra to make sure that it looks right under clothing. She'll also want to raise and lower her arms a few times.

You are so sweet!!! Take her to a store that specializes in undergarments if you don't have anyone in the family that can help her. Don't take her to Wal-Mart. She should be sized and explained to how the bra should fit and feel. I am not sure if Victoria's Secret would have her size, but it's worth a try. She can pick out a really cute bra. Some 10 year olds are well endowed, some just need a training bra which is why she should have some help for her first bra.

Do you have a female relative or neighbor who also has a daughter about the same age who can help you? It is a good idea to find a female role model that your daughter can turn to - more and more of these issues, such as menstruation, will come up as she gets older. She will need another woman to talk to about these sensitive issues.

If not, I'm sure that if you explain your situation (i.e. you're a single dad whose daughter needs a bra) to a store clerk, he/she will be able to help you. Your daughter needs a training bra. Why don't you start off by buying just a simple one since she's only 10 right now. It will help if you know your daughter's size - check just the label in one of her shirts.

Wow, a bra at 10? Try walmart and ask one of the ladies? Or any other stores selling girls clothing. Most bras for young girls are called training bras. They're not fancy or anything. It's basically two little cloths held by the straps but you can find pretty ones with flowers and bows. Ask around. Most women are proned to help "lost" dads especially about girly things. Good luck when puberty hits, that's a whole different matter!

Bras can be hard to fit, and are rather complicated for men, even some women wear the wrong size! Many depatment stores(JcPenney's is good) offer help. She needs to measure herself to be sure to get the right size, and many sales ladies will be happy to help her. Victoria Secrets web site also gives a good measurement chart, you could print it out for her if you don't want her to see that sight yet. I assume she is not very big yet, but she does need to be refitted at least every six months. A bra that does not fit is very uncomfortable. Also, she will need several, because she will need change them everyday, and I would recomend a couple "nice" ones, and a couple "sports bra" types.

If you are just too uncomfortable, or she has a problem, you could always ask a friends mom or a teacher she trusts to help you, but I would not go that way if I were you. There are many "worse" topics coming soon, and if she learns that she can trust you now, she will continue to come to you.

I would also schedule a visit with her doctor soon. Not for her, but for you. My period started very soon after I "needed my first bra", and you need to be able to help her with that. Her doctor can let you know about cramping, what is normal, and also talk about birth control. Birth Control is NOT just for unwanted pregnancies. My sister needed it to control mood swings, which tend to come along with it.

Good luck with your little girl, and don't worry about feeling overwhelmed, I've been through this all myself, and feel that way with my little girl! It just happens so fast. Luckily, your daughter seems to have a caring dad to help her out!

Go to Kmart or Walmart and in the preteen section, there should be small training bras. If not, there will be very small ones (A or AA size) in the regular section. You'll probably want a size 26 or 28 A or AA for a 10 year old.

any department store should have a lingerie dept. usually there is someone there to help you buy the right bra. If not just take her to a dept. store, and get a ton of bra's to try on (trust me every women in the world has to do it this way) since your daughter is young I am guessing she's between a 32 AA and a 34A . Get a lot of different sizes and brands and have her try them on tell her it should fit snuggly but not tight, that the straps can adjust etc. and good luck, but do look for someone who can help fit her.

ps it's usually the oldest lady in the dept. hahaha

Take her to victoria secret and one of the ladies there will take her in one of the changing room and fit her for the right size and everything. Once she knows what size she is, she can pick something from the store I'm sure they have a section thats not so sexy for younger girls. And too, once she knows her size you can take her to any dept store.. sears, jcpenny, carsons, value city, even walmart and she can pick what she likes try it on and find the perfect bra with your approval of course. If she's not comfy with you going have a female friend that you trust or sister or a group of her friends and a chaperone who knows whats acceptable or not and have them to take a trip to vikki secrets that would be fun. Give her a little money not just for a bra, but spending money to have a mini shopping spree with at the mall and get something to eat. Make it fun (shoes, tshirt, then......BRA!!) Good Luck

Go pick up one of her friends and take her to JCpenney split up and give them 30 minuttes to find a Bra, then meet back up somewhere. It will make the girl more comfortable just being with a close friend then been with an adult.
