I have two DVD players...one that I bought for 20 bucks and one for 400 bucks. BOTH of them skip when I play my DVD's. I try using cleaners and those make it worse. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Please...serious answers only.

Check it with an NTSC DVD from the video store. Otherwise it is a compatibility problem. My friend's DVD player always skips on PAL format.

Check the model number at videohelp.com to see if other people have the same problem.

Buy a Philips DVP-642. It will play anything.

Are the dvd's you are trying to watch some that you have backed-up (burned) yourself? If so, it could be the brand of disk your using or if it is regular dvds, it could be your laser is out of alignment.

The side that the laser reads from has bumps.
The microscopic dimensions of the bumps make the spiral track on a DVD extremely long. To read bumps this small you need an incredibly precise disc-reading mechanism.
The hardest part of reading a DVD is keeping the laser beam centered on the data track. This centering is the job of the tracking system.

It is either a media problem, your dvd laser intensity, laser integrity, or tracking system off.
If burning... try buying a different brand disc to burn your movie

if you have the same problem try taking your disk to a store to test as if you are going to get a new dvd player

taking your discs to the store with you can help you see if it is only your players having the problem. If so buy a new player.

what condition are the DvD's you are trying to play in? scratched or brand new, check the DvD player with a clean disc, still got problems?

i'm guessing this is DvD drives for a PC, have you tried downloading the laters driver files for the DvD player? are all the connections good with undamaged cables?

Did you look at the DVD's themselves?
If so perhaps it is the connection with you T.V.?
Just an idea.
