I know what they feel like when the start hurting really bad. I have had 3 other children but my question is... every so often I feel tightening down inside my vagina like something is squeezing and my stomach is hard as a rock. Is that contractions? It doesn't hurt it is just annoying. It done that with the other three too. But I never thought anything of it. I was just wondering if thats what it is. I am 29 weeks.

From what I understand tightening of the uterus and a feeling of menstraul cramps combined are contractions. However, it is very typical to have contractions while you are pregnant if more than 4 occur in an hour then that could be a problem. I also have tightening of the uterus. I measure at 30 weeks for a singleton, but am 23 weeks with twins.

I am sure it is normal. If you have any spotting as well go straight to the hospital and call your doctor. Good luck & congrats!

I would say braxton-hicks contractions, aka practice contractions. Ive had these since week 20. As for the tightning in the vagina, I don't know. I had pains down there and my OB told me that it is my cervix dilating.

That is not a contraction....it sounds like the baby may be pinching a nerve somewhere, or putting pressure on a muscle. Ask the dr, but I had that pain in my vaginal area when I was prego and that is what my dr told me.

sounds like braxton hicks. It is is tight but not cramping then thats what that would be. If you start to feel a cramping along with the tighting then that would be the start to real contractions. Goodluck and hope this helps. CONGRATS

Sounds like Brackston Hicks contractions and probably is nothing to worry about, but you should discuss this with your Dr. anyway, just to make sure.

It sounds like it is. It could be Braxton Hicks though. When I had my baby, my contractions felt like really bad period cramps.

Yes those are it...and they will get stronger when you are in labor.

You may want to contact your OB doctor or go to L&D and get checked out to make sure you are not in preterm labor.
