Say you are having your period and don't feel like it. Or you could just say you don't want to go swimming today, that would be the best answer.

i don't want to swim.
i just washed my swimsuit.
i went swimming yesterday.
i'm not feeling very well.
there's going to be too many people in the car (or if you don't want to go boating, say the same thing except say boat instead of car.)
just tell them you have a hangover.
that's all i got.

Er.... I haven't got a suitable costume.
I can't swim.
Wrong time of the month.
What swim in all that pollution!
I've just put my sun-lotion on.
I just fancy lying on the beach for the moment.

Put a piece of cotton in your ear, tell your coach you have a slight ear infection. NO SWIMMING for at least 24 hrs.

Say you have your period, or you are on medication for an ear infection. You shouldn't swim with an ear infection.

an ear infection - you can't see it and it won't be there or could recur in the future, whereas a permanent allergy to chlorine (as suggested) will preclude you from going at another time.

If you're female - it's that time of the month
or - I have a verruca
or - The chlorine will make my excema worse
or - I think I'm coming down with a cold and I don't want to risk getting wet and cold.
or - I have a headache
or - I have earache and I don't want to get water in my ear.

say you feel sick. or you already have plans with someone else. Or you know how people aren't supposed to swim after they eat?--say you just ate a big meal.
