Jeremy Mayfield got what he deserved. He is stupid for talking trash about his boss to the media.

Don't know if he was "treated" badly. When I go into my work and I do not perform to expectations I can expect to be fired at any given time. Jeremy Mayfield currently having only missed 1 race is 34th in points. Jeremy has 1647 driver points which is 1594 behind the leader. This is unacceptable performance from a top 10 team(#9) last year! There is obviously problems within that team and apparently Ray Evernham thought it must have been a driver problem.

If you are a Jeremy Mayfield fan (I am not a fan, but I like him as a driver) then relax, he will land a new ride next year and will be just fine. He has a lot going for him, and he just needs the right team and situation. He has proved his value in NASCAR last year!

Jeremy Mayfield was treated very fairly. Jeremy dropped so far back in points, that car/team wasn't even guaranteed a starting spot in a race anymore. If he failed to qualify, then they just wouldn't get to race! He also was bad-mouthing Evernham motorsports to the media. If he had a problem, he should have taken it up in private with his boss, instead of making his whole team look like a bunch of chumps by bad-mouthing them to the media. That's his boss......he was not very bright for doing that, unless he didn't care if he got fired. All-in-all, because of Jeremy's performance and actions, His release was VERY justified. I don't blame Ray for releasing him at all, and finding someone else.

from what i have read, the whole deal was handled wrong. i think it all began when the 9 team became the premier team at everham. not only did jeremy lose most if not all of the team that put him in the chase for the past two years, there was a lack of effort to get the 19 team better. i think jeremy runin' his mouth didn't help matters but everham didn't handle things picture perfect either.

however it all boils down to no one knows how everything occurred except jeremy and everham so we can't speculate and make judgments

You talk smack about your boss, in a job where there are literally dozens of other equally qualified people to take your place, you get fired. Its as simple as that. Yeah the whole situation sucks, and apparently Erin Crocker sucks as well (why else would Evernham be with her?), but Jeremy got what he deserved!

You put anyone else in that car they are going to drive well now, because Evernham is gonna go out o fhis way to prove that it was Jeremys fault. That means he'll make damn sure it runs well every week.

Im not sure of the politics between him and Ray Everhardt - It is surprising you can go from winning a couple of races during the season - then slump - to actively attack your owner in public.

There just aren't that many rides in Nextel - Yes Mayfield is a talented driver, and he might be able to find a new team. But that's very risky strategy, and even if Mayfield is right, could find himself sitting on the sidelines next year.

how he came out in public and said that was not right. Ray may not be going about the thing he has with Erin the right way but you do not air the dirty laundry in public what happens behind the fans back is private.

He will have a hard time finding a owner whom would take the chance that the same thing could happen to him or her in the future,

Yes Ray has been "PUBLIC" about what him and Erin have going on just watch the beginning of the ARCA race from Pocono in July and that will show you.

well let me say first jeremy should have went to ray with his complaints. but would the out come have been different. of course not ray doesn't want to here the truth.ray at the first of the year gave all of jeremy winning team to kasey team. does jeremy have a right to be upset yes he does. did ray do jeremy wrong yes.does he think getting rid of jeremy is taking care of the problem when the problem is right under his nose.. drama isn't good when it effects those around you. i really feel for elliott.

I think he has been treated bad by Ray.
I know he was talking trash of Ray & his ne relationship, but Jeremy just got fired, from one week to the other, also I know he wasn't performin well.
but there in Everham Motorsports there is a driver who hasn't perform at all, this driver is not in NEXTEL or is a regular in Busch
and this driver still there. So, why Jeremy got fired, the truth is that Ray got tired of Jeremy.

I DO!!!He did not deserve that at all.Ray could have at least finished out the year with him.And the only reason why Jeremy talked bad about Ray was because Ray is hardly at the races anymore because hes with his stupid lil whore Erin Crocker. Why didnt he get rid of her?SHE SUCKS!Ray has been very unprofessional about this whole thing and its wrong.Lets see how good Sadler is gonna do the rest of this year in the #19.Guaranteed he is not going to do any better then Jeremy did.
