There is nothing wrong with Scotland, the land, people, the food either and haggis is a delicacy. You ask where the joke originated? Probably outside Scotland! I wouldn't be surprised and by someone who'd never seen Scotland. never tasted the haggis either! You'd better believe it is scrumptious! I miss out so much in Ireland! Anytime i go home i bring back haggis with me!

Those who ask a Scotsman about it rarely get a straight answer. A common reply to the question "What is a haggis?" often goes along the following lines. "A haggis is a small four-legged Scottish Highland creature, which has the limbs on one side shorter than the other side. This means that it is well adapted to run around the hills at a steady altitude, without either ascending or descending. However a haggis can easily be caught by running around the hill in the opposite direction." You can't shoot a haggis as they'll explode, you have to hit it over the head with a large hammer called a haggis basher! and so on.....

I am not quite sure, but I suppose that it is a combination of disgust at the idea of having to eat something that is essentially a stuffed animal organ, and the fact that the Scots are really, truly convinced that it is a good dish. I do not understand those jokes either, since I see nothing wrong with eating something like haggis - though I suppose it's because I regularly eat foodstuffs that other people would find far more disgusting.

There is no joke. Haggis is the national dish (not that we eat it everyday or anything). It has been said that haggis is a little creature that runs about the hills when in fact this is false. It is made from sheep and oats and various other things. It's quite nice but I prefer the vegetarian option, not that I am a veggie, I just prefer it.

i like haggis!! i'm from the states, and moved right here 13 years in the past. even as a pal invited me round for tea at hers, and then suggested me we were having haggis because it became Burn's nighttime,my first theory became,''Bleeeeeuuuuurrrggghh!!" yet being a well mannered man or woman,I familiar the dish and tried it-and on the prompt fell in love with it! it truly is scrumptious, and each and absolutely everyone ought to easily positioned aside their pre-concieved recommendations and a minimum of have a flavor!
