There are just two things that I recommend you add to gasoline and neither will directly improve gas mileage. One is a fuel system cleaner, such as Chevron Techron. This will help keep fuel injectors and valves cleaner, and help the car run better. This might improve gas mileage ever so slightly. Use this type of cleaner once a month or so.
The other gasoline additive I recommend is gas-line antifreeze, which should be used when temperatures get well below freezing. If you live where it doesn't get all that cold, then you can ignore it.
As for improving gas mileage, the cheapest and easiest thing you can do is to check your tires regularly and keep them inflated to the manufacturer's recommendations. Other things you can do are to go though your car and take out any miscellaneous stuff that you don't need, such as books or whatever. Obviously, don't take out anything you need or that's required for the operation/comfort of the car, but remove any possessions that you do not need to carry with you. Check your oil regularly to be sure it's topped up and change your oil at the manufacturer's recommended intervals. A car will run best with a full complement of the right oil.
As far as adding things to your car to get better gas mileage, a simple one is a better-breathing air filter, such as a K&N. Another would be to switch to synthetic oil. I believe that both give me *slightly* better gas mileage but it's hard to say for sure.

No miracle fuel additives. BUT
The number one thing to increase mpg would be tire inflation. Minumum check monthly, maybe weekly in your case.Slight over inflation(a pound or two- no more as the tire failure/ accident would cost more!) will give slight improvement(and increase your stopping distance).
And changing your air filter enhances gas mileage(Yearly min.- more often if dusty/ unpaved roads etc)
And older cars require tune ups. No year on yours...
So if 2000 and newer- tires and air filter.
The savings in tires alone will pay back that effort...
Clean oil helps a little BUT even more by not having to replace car/engine.
And if the car is older than the usual tune up probably overdue and that makes a difference as well.
AND if stuck in jam or three minute light- turn off the engine!
Start car when cold and drive easily to allow warmup- don't idle ten minutes in drive way! Wear a jacket until temperture is capable of heating car.
Not using AC helps mpg( But at highway speeds 35mph or higher open windows are worse(its a drag coefficient thingy)
Take the flag off your antenna (plastic sticker inside window Patriotic and fuel efficient).
Reduce unecessary weight from inside car... that twelve pounds of change might be convenient BUT...
Take the floor rugs out(or just the other three)... lighter vehicle is a more effecient vehicle gas wise.
Good luck... AND yes I've always gooten good mpg.
Fill tank full(shut off) Write mileage(odometer) down.
Drive to next fill up. Write mileage and quantity of gas down.
Divide miles by gas AND this will be your actual gas mileage.
Now do all that I suggested and see the difference!
After that avoid full tanks(fill to 3/4's and refill at 1/4 or 1/8). It's the weight thingy again. GOOD LUCK!
Go on diet... okay I'm done.

Tire pressure and air filter....the two biggies! There are a FEW additives, but most just drain your wallet even more. As for gas line antifreeze.....Look at the active ingredients! It is primarily the same thing you have in your medicine cabinet at home.....that's right, RUBBING ALCOHOL. As a firefighter and arson investigator, I know a little bit about this stuff. It called a polar solvent. Polar solvents MIX with water, they do NOT, as some would think, "displace" it. That is how they work. They mix with the water, allowing it to burn through the engine. Is it a good product if you have water in your gas? YES! For any other purpose? No! My advise..... buy a motorcycle. If everyone in the USA bought one, they'd HAVE to lower prices to "get rid" of their surplus supply. Think about it and good luck!

I bought a K&N air filter for my 2004 AWD Buick Rendevous for around $45 which seems rather expensive until you do the math. The Rendevous is now getting about 1 mpg more in city type driving, going from 18 to 19 mpg. This amounts to saving around 1 cent per mile which pays for the filter in roughly 5000 miles. It may improve the mpg more on the road, but I don't have the data yet.

You responded your human being question; in the adventure that they artwork, why do not vehicles come equiped with them from the production unit? I artwork on the overall automobiles Technical middle in Michigan, Powertrain branch. I try engines. those gizmos are the technical version of snake oil. If GM might want to save even 2% on gas economic gadget, we'd want to be throughout those issues, each vehicle producer might want to. vehicle organizations attempt for more effective efficient gas economic gadget, thousands and thousands of greenbacks each and each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days bypass into analyze & checking out. do not waste you funds.

No. You can add headers and dual pipes, performance chips and more but it probably won't add more than 2 or 3 mpg's. And that will cost more than the gas. Just drive smarter.

To improve gas mileage, make sure your spark plugs are new (and wires) and the air pressure in your tires is correct. Lucas is a good product, but it only lasts so long.

a K&N filter is said to add a lot to your mpg. They cost a little more than a regular air filter but are well worth it. It added about 8 to my suv

The EPA has tested several such products and not found a single one that actually worked.
