2 possible reason seems rather obvious:
>> some happens to be lazy sods
>> others are not quite fortunate enough to see any answer that satisfies them
In my case, however, I tend to take my time in reviewing each answer once again, before deciding on which to be voted as Best Answer.
This is mainly as an appreciation for the fact that I was fully satisfied with the answer OR if none of the answer satisfies me, I still tend to choose the Best Answer merely as a gesture of thanks for taking their time out in replying my question.
Lastly, rather than being lazy again when voting the Best Answer by merely giving star rating, I tend to right brief note, as well.

Mostly it's because the question isn't really a question, it's a stupid (or sometimes witty) statement with a question mark at the end and beginning with one of the question words. Often there isn't a 'Best Answer' to a bad question and the people who write them don't care or are too lazy to bother.
Sometimes I really wonder, though. People ask things like how do I get from Little Snoring to Leatherhead by train and one goes to a lot of trouble to find out, only to wonder, when it goes to voting, if they ever took one's advice or if they ever made the journey.
I know it's not really a matter of points but they miss out on three whole points by not chosing!

Most people do, i am well please to notice i have an extra ten points when i log on. It might well be that the small minority might not know that you can choose a best answer or maybe it is because of the 24 hour wait period or it could simply be that they are all too good that there is no best answer!

they dont choose because they might not have got the answer they want. or they will be in confustion to whom to give the points as many would have answered correctly. or they doesnt know that they should have to choose the best answer.
i hope u choose a best answer for u r question if u dont choose then u know why people doesnt choose a best answer

Unfortunately some people only answer with obscenities or just thanks for the 2 points I personally do not feel inclined when I have posted a sensible question to award points to idiots who can not answer

Maybe, they thought none of the answers to be worth the points...
i think we should get 10 points for answering.. and 25 for a best answer............

Because, if someone vote that there is no answer they are going to take the 5 points back.

Because the asker wasn't satisfied with any of the answers eg they didn't answer the question or give enough detail.

It's probably because some of the 'answers' that appear on this site simply aren't worthy of that accolade - or, in other words, they're a load of old shite!
