In the UK, 14 - 16000 but its a horrible job. Your supervisor will be on your back constantly, they collate statistics of how long you spend talking on the phone, they watch your breaks, they know how long you take to go to the toilet & get back to your desk.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!

In the U.S. if it's not telemarketing but just plain customer service, and putting up with a lot of abuse, you get paid generally from $9-$13 (I am speaking for myself of Tampa, FL where on average a call center starts at $10 to $12 an hour and we have at leaset 20 call centers in the Bay Area alone if not more) an hour starting in most major metropolises. But that is in most areas, some pay more, and others much less.

Telemarketing is another story and is based on commission, mostly you have to keep that in mind.

Depends on the industry you are going into, a sale environment will probably offer a low rate of pay but with bonuses or commisions. What you need to understand is that call centre work is not a long term prospect, but a great stepping stone as it will teach you how to handle people as non visual communication is difficult, especially when dealing with obnoxious people! You can realistically expect a life of 12-18 months maximum before things get to you. It can be a very stressful job with tight targets and tight regimes. Ask questions on any interview on stress management within the environment, targets and how achievable they really are, ask to listen into some calls if possible, to get a 'feel' for it before you accept any role

Call centres in my area start at $9/hr Canadian. After 2 years you will probably be earning $14/hr.

They reward loyalty and work ethic with bonuses. It is hard to keep people on staff and many do not enjoy the job and workers are very transient.

There are always openings and people are always leaving for something less stressful (being yelled at, sworn at, and hung up on is not a good way to spend your days).

If you stick it out and enjoy the job, you will be rewarded.

I guess it depends where you are. What country what state, and it also depends of the company and if it's inbound or outbound. Outbound usually have comissions. I worked in a call center in germany for a while and got paid monthly which was around 1,700 (40 hour week).
