Is there anyone out there that cleans their home too much, everything has to be spotless, how do you stop this madness.

i'm going through the anxiety of not having everything as i would like it. in the last 4 years i've gone from 2 children to 4.. all aged from 2 to 16 years old. i do wish i could get organized. i tell myself that i am the only one that cares about this, but it still doesn't help. i get very frustrated if i don't know where everything is...and now i can't find anything. it's driving me nuts. as a few of the above said...yes have kids....well that certainly stops you from having all things perfect..but it doesn't help when you can't accept that, that's just the way it is now...damn it lol. i remember going through the same thing (not quite as bad though) when my older 2 were toddlers...it passed... and then i got organized...and now....ta dahhhh....back to the same ol' square again lol...i'm sure there will be a day when the kids have left home , i would love to be able to 'pick up' after someone...i'm working at it...i hope i'll be able to get it around my head soon that it's all ok and i'm the only one who stresses about it...mind you i'm a bit of a control freak.....still workin at that too.
good luck and be proud of your achievement at having a lovely clean home...just don't let it rule over and above everything else...maybe i will do that too someday.
cheers

Yes, have some kids and then you won't have time to be cleaning too much. You'll be running them around to soccer, school, music lessons and medical appointments. Take it from a mother of three you cant possibly clean too much but with kids you won't have time so there!

Seriously if this is obsessive compulsive disorder you are talking about a psychologist who works on behavior problems can help but you might also need both a psychiatrist. If meds are needed only the psychiatrist can prescribe.

The best thing to do is clean as you go along, that way you will not have a whole pile of life to do! I normally clean or wash things as soon as possible, and that way i get more time for important things to do. I do like my house to be spotless! It kinda irritates me if something goes wrong! A clean house is a healthy home...

Delegate! Have your husband and children help. Everyone can do a part of the cleaning. You will still probably feel like you have to do a great deal, but this will some of the pressure off!

i, m the same, and i cant help it, everything has to be perfectly clean and in order, You wouldnt think i,ve got 2 kids, its so tidy, my husband says i look for work i probably do, i never have a go at the kids though if they mess up, i,ll just tidy it up, sometimes its do with anxiety, i do get that now and again, i get on my own nerves with cleaning, but just cant help it, if that s the way you are you cant really change, dont worry!

Yes me and now that i have 3 small kids, 2 of them under 2 years old..I find it harder to keep on top of it and it drives me insane.
My partners says I haved a compulsive disorder and maybe I do. I can't sit in a room with anything out of place, I can't stop thinking about putting it away.
Try Prozac...helps with OCD's apparently.

yeah.. virgo. . ya gotta love them.. we are obsessed with order.. I am this way.. I will spend HOURS cleaning and when I get done it isnt enough. buy plastic boxes.. and store things in compartments.. label.. all that fun stuff. There are sites on the net for supplies.. Ebay has them too.. I shop on there for them alot. Dont fret.. take a breath.. and think.. IT WILL BE OKAY!

I am a clean freak, my weapon of choice is the anti-bac wipes. You can clean anything at a moments notice. I can't see me changing until i have kids!!

It is not OCD, because I don't lie awake at night thinking about it!

Could it be OCD? Contamination fears -my Aunt is like that and OCD runs in the family (hell I've got it- but not cleaning madness)
Its fear based isn't it?
