An easy way to work out 5% problems in your head is to work out the easier 10% and then halve it.
viz. 9400 / 10 (knock a 0 off 9400) = 940
940 / 2 = 470

It depends is her commission based on sales before or after tax? is does the $9400 represent her total sales that are included in her commission or does that have the tax involved in it also?
but regardless what ever you assumme to be commissionable sales you take that by 0.05 and the resulting value is her weekly earning.
y=x*p
so let x be total commissionable sales (9400)
let y be weekly earnings
and p be the converted percentage in decimal form (0.05).
y= $9400(0.05)
y=$470 her weekly earnings assumming $9400 is her weekly commissionable sales.
Hope this helps you out.
