While both of her parents are considered black, I believe her maternal grandmother was at least part French. I think that's where she got the name of her clothing line "House of Dereon" and the light skin tone. Her mother is light skinned and so is her sister.

of course she is, many races in her. Check out an African person sometime... Really really dark. Then check out an African American, not so dark, many shades, indicates mixed races in DNA

Her father's black and her mother's black. I guess if you get technical, on her mother's side someone obviously had a bit of jungle fever, but it could go as far back as great great grand ma (genes are funny that way), but I doubt she considers herself "mixed" like Mariah or Alicia.

no she's just black. her skin color only looks light at certain times due to make-up and lighting.
