I just paid $175 to cancel my contract for my second phone. That reduced my anticipated payments enough to justify the fee over the time period.

Talk to the customer service people, they really will help you, if you keep a positive attitude with them.

Check your contract
here's a tip if you don't want to pay
get them to cancel you!!!
See if Verizon charge for roaming if they don't use lots of roaming minutes most companies hate to lose money
they have to pay i.e. Cingular,or t-Mobile to use their towers
and many providers have a disclaimer in the contract about using other providers networks
Here's an except from a Cingular contract "Cingular reserves the right to terminate your service if less than 50% of your usage over three consecutive billing cycles is on Cingular owned systems "
so just use another providers network system for 3 months ( a pain I know but saves you $150-$200!!!!!)
Also beginning in the fall Verizon is reducing its cancellation fee dependent on how long you have had the contract for but only for new or renewing customers

DO NOT PAY THE CANCELLATION FEE!!

Go the www.celltradeusa.com

You can sell your current contract to someone else. This is something cell phone companies obviously do not want you to know. You will have to pay the $19.99 registration fee. But it is worth it.

it's up there, but if you are canceling b/c you get no service, fight for your rights. my dad has canceled about 3 or 4 cell phones and paid nothing b/c we live in a poor reception area and don't get any service.

YOU MUST PAY US UP TO $175 PER WIRELESS PHONE NUMBER AS AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE IF YOU CHOOSE TO END YOUR SERVICE BEFORE BECOMING A MONTH-TO-MONTH CUSTOMER, OR IF WE TERMINATE IT EARLY FOR GOOD CAUSE.
