Ask his mom or dad to be sure, but Superman is hot this year, Hot Wheels, Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Pokemon is still popular, too.

Tomgatchi VERSION 3 is quite popular.

Spiderman and the X-men are good bets, too.

Good video games are Tomb Raider, Spyro, Tony Hawk(skateboarding), Sonic the Hedgehog--the important thing is to know which system you are buying for--X-Box, X-Box360, PlayStation2, or Gamecube.

DVD? Zathura, Sky High, any superhero flick.

Looking for a big ticket item? Check to see if there's a sale on bikes (even boys who don't do sports like bikes)or video game systems.

Someone else getting him one of those things? Bike helmets, bike locks, video games.

Ask Mom or Dad about what's on your grandson's wish list. Most kids this age have a pretty good idea of what they want.

It's also a good way to avoid getting him what he already has, or what his parents have already bought.

Keep the receipt!!!! Even if there's no need to exchange, most warranties are useless without the original receipt!

Good luck!

The Toys R Us website navigation bar is broken up by age. You might get some good ideas there. Also, if you are looking to drop a bit of coin, then you might want to get him a portable video game system. The games that come for these systems are geared towards the "tweens". He'll probably think anything with Pirates of the Caribbean on it is cool, and Star Wars is still really popular. I think kids are still into building sets at this age, so Legos, K'Nex, and Bionicles. Good luck!

Playstation II, my 8 yr. old loves it and would be there every second of the day if I would let him, they are also into BMX bikes and skateboarding. Or how about a PSP or Game Boy Advance. GOOD LUCK!

What about video games? Handheld games, remote control cars, and stuff like that. Boys are hard to shop for. I like girls much better cause you can buy them a Barbie doll and they'll be satisfied!
