visual basic is exactly that, basic. All you need to learn is programming terminology, keyword usage, and then the specific functions (keywords) for the environment which you are developing under.

just to let you know, there is vbScript (Windows Script Hosting) as the base, then vba (Visual basic for applications (excel, word, access, etc. (accessed via ALT+F11 in office app)) which derives from vbScript, and then VB (.Net or 6.0< (True application building)) which derives from VBA (all ofcourse merely syntactically). But the point here is that if you learn vbScript then you know allitle bit about VBA and so on.
