deprnds on type of battery & age etc. 1 st, , check mfg. directions, --- in general, batteries are like most all other things in universe, they don like to sit around idle, thety WANT to "work"

When connected to to an electrical outlet and working on you laptop: Take out the battery.
When you're not working: leave the battery in to charge

Always read the manual that comes with the laptop. It will tell you how to treat the battery so that it will last.
