Israel is more hated now than ever before.
The world will find out the truth about Israel now.
Hezbolla has more support now than ever before. Even I sympathize with their plight. You have to admire them, up against a modern-military force like Israel and not backing down at all.
ON a side note.. did you know "only" 600,000 jews died in Nazi concentration camps? The 6 million number was pulled out of thin air during one of Truman's political speeches, and is a gross exaggeration.

Hezzbollah and their Iranian/Syrian buddies will end up violating the ceasefire at some point - since their goal is the destruction of the Israeli state. So on a certain level,it's better for Israel in the long term to lose in the short term.
This loss will:
- Cause a change in the Israeli cabinet towards a government that takes a much more aggressive stance. Most of the Israeli public supported the war, but hated its execution.
- When Hezzbollah violates the ceasefire, the world will (hopefully)take a kinder view of anything Israel will do. Anybody who thinks that Hezzbollah was justified, is deluded, since they think terrorism is justified.

The land of "Israel" should be split in half. The northern half would be Palestine and the southern half Israel.
In the middle occupying Jerusalem would be the new U.N. HQ with a corridor that divides these lands from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. Stationed there should be 200,000 man Rapid Reaction Force capable of delivering a serious smack down to ANYONE in the region that acts out of line.
This solution creates peace in the region and gets the U.N. out of New York .

No, they did not 'lose' per se.
What they failed to do, however, is accomplish their goals there. They have failed to eradicate Hezbos. This is because of their timid initial approach. They should have blitzed in with their full power and panoply of weapons, surrounded and slaughtered the Hezbos, collateral damage and weepy propaganda be damned!
However, I have no doubts that the Hezbos will shortly violate the cease-fire (honor and integrity are not Islamist concepts) and Israel can do what they should have done the first time. Only this time it will be harder, because the UN and Lebanese army will impede them, but not the terrorists.

Yes Israel lost:
1. More people allover the world knows the truth about Israel's occupation.
2. Arabs are more united against Israel and they will place more demands
3. Hezbollah showed the world that arrogant Israeli policy (also US and British policy) is resistible.
4. They showed the world that they are not terrorists but very brave freedom fighters. And that USA cannot simply mark as terrorist anyone who oppose them.
near future will show who is real winner and who is real looser.

NO decision yet. But I feel the 2 parties had different objectives.
Israel wanted to eliminate the militants and Hezbollah wanted to frighten Israel and send them back.
Considering that Hezbollah have done better, with not much damage to them, but a huge price payed by Lebanon civilians.
