Luke would win because he is the strongest in the force when you compare him to notable Jedi Knights and Masters such as his dad Anakin, Obi Wan, or even Yoda. Anakin by far had the most midi-chlorians and as I read the New Galaxy series and spin offs I see that Luke gets stronger each time.
5 reasons why Luke would win:
1.) Most likely strongest in the force out of all Jedi at this point. 2
2.) He get guidance and speak to Obi Wan, Anakin, and Yoda now.
3.) He has no corruption like his father did.
4.) Luke is much quicker than any of the other Jedi, well, maybe Yoda was the quickest.
5.) With all the training and teaching he's got from Ben, Yoda, and by turning his father back to the light side he has some good experience and a good mind set.
Maul's double lightsabre would prove dangerous as it did against Qui-Gon but Darth Maul is from an earlier era-older fighting style-Luke is more new school/advanced. He has training in not only lightsaber but also a blaster. His piloting skills and navigational skills give him the edge in just simple use of machinery and tactics which would put him at an advantag over Darth Maul. Obi Wan and Yoda, nor even Mace Windu had those skills.
Overall Luke is the most well round Jedi when you consider fighting skills, smarts, use of the force, and mind set.

Depends what luke we are talking about....Luke from the first movie would easily lose to Darth maul, he was untrained and untested in battle. However, Luke from return of the jedi would kick Mauls butt. No doubt. Luke beat Vader in jedi, and Vader easily outclasses maul as a sith lord. Of course we are talking about hollywood characters, and everyone knows that in hollywood, to good guys never lose. So the answer is LUKE.

Luke against Darth Maul...ok, this one's easy. Luke was pretty cheesy as a lightsaber handler, and Darth Maul had serious skill. I'd say Darth Maul beats the crap outta Luke, and then Han shows up with a blaster and saves Luke yet again.

Keep in mind that Luke was a relatively weak and untrained Jedi. He just seemed strong and cool because he was the only one.

I believe Darth Maul would win....he bested Quagon Jin in Episode One, and he put up an excellent fight against Obi Wan.

I think Luke would win because Darth maul would be a VERY old man and Luke would probably target his wheelchair first.

The good guys always win in Star Wars, so I would say Luke would win. He would probably gain a few converts along the way though.
