I know on eis breed and one is color but which is which?

PAINT is of Quarter horse breeding

PINTO refers to ALL horses with that type of marking

Paint and Pinto are color breeds. Paint are typically of Quarter Horse descent. Both parents need to be registered as either Paint or Quarter Horse. Pintos need only have one registered parent and can be registered in any breed/color designation. We have paints and a couple of pintos.

A paint has two colors. A pinto has three colors, brown and white body with a black tail and or mane.

There's no difference. They both refer to colouring. Other names given are piebald (for horses of 2 colours) & skewbald (for horses of 3 colours or more) Pinto & painted are the names commonly given in America for this type of coloured horse.
