I had a Depo Provera shot about 6 months ago. 3 months later when I was due for another shot, I decided to not take it. I got my period for that month but I have not had one for the past two months June and July. I went to the doctor, they said I was not pregnant, have no infections, and a normal pap test. I don't know why I havn't had my period. Can anyone help me?

yepppp that depo provera is a nasty one....I was on it when I was young, it mucks up a woman's system something shocking ,it should be banned.......I also didn't get a period for 4 mths after coming off it after a year then I bled for 18mths solid(not a lot just enough to drive me insane)then when I had a smear, it showed I had abnormal cell thingys and ended up having my cervex removed due to cervical cancer...my doc said it was due to the injection Depo Provera and having sex too young. Phewwwww sorry to be a gloomy guts, but i hate the stuff.

the depo provera shot is not good for you- it causes weight gain and puts you at a much higher risk for cancer and heart problems. a friend of mine had an experience similiar to lyndles.

did you ask your doctor for an explanation?

missing your period, having a normal pap, and not being pregnant means that either you have had your period for less than 2 or 3 years and your body just hasn't gotten on a normal schedule yet OR the depo provera threw you off schedule temporarily OR you have lost a significant amount of weight in the past few weeks.

if your doctor did not give you any explanation when you asked, please seek a second opinion if you do not get your period this month. not having your period reduces your chances of being able to have children in the future- plus it might mess up your hormones.

you may need to go on the pill in order to regulate your hormones. (and you might want to stay on it b/c it works very well if you remember to take it every day.)

Depo-provera can cause amenorrhea (no period) but you have been off it for quite a while. If your doctor is not a specialist in OB-GYN problems, and your problem persists, you may want to see a specialist.

i wouldn't advise my worst enemy to take depo. it completely throws your period off. I know women who haven't had their period in 6 months & when they do get it they bleed real heavy. The best birthcontrol to me is condoms.

It's the shot... it has to have time to wear off. Just relax you'll get your period soon enough.
