mobile sync with your pc enables you to update contacts, calendar entries, and notes between your phone and pc.

The mobile part is particularly useful if, say, you're out of the office and you make an appointment or meet a new contact on your phone. You start a mobile sync, and your office machine is updated.

You need a server that's capable of doing it, or a service provider who supports that function.

Windows mobile and Exchange work particularly well with this, though any phone that has SyncML and an office with a syncml server will do it too.
