I believe weed should be legalized because all it's doing is taking up too much unnecessary jail space. It's not any worse than alcohol and that's legal. I think they won't legalize it though becuz they don't know how to tax it. How do you tax something that someone can grow on their own?
as for the drinking age being 18?? I have to disagree with that one. as bad as it sounds most 21 year olds aren't mature enough to know when to say when and their boundaries....their dangerous. my opinion though

Yes to both. Weed should be legal because a number of reasons. It has been proven to be safer to smoke than tobacco. There would be incredible revenue on taxes alone, and the marijuana trade could be regulated, so it is quality and not cut with anything. Also, once something becomes legal, it loses the mystique that it had while it was still contraband. Once it becomes commonplace, less people will feel the need to smoke (after the initial surge of course, which cannot be avoided). As for alcohol, the same thing applies. Once the age gets lowered, kids will not have the same incentive to drink. If they do drink heavily, at least they will build tolerance early instead of dying if they wait and "turn 21" with their 21 shots. And it's not like kids under 21 don't drink now.

First: How do you believe that "weed" would bring in huge revenue? That is exactly why it is not legal because the government cannot find a way to sell it and tax it when we can grow it in our own backyard. If it was legal, who would go to the store to pick up a pack of "weed" when they could just dry their own?

Second: What do you actually need to know in order to join the armed forces. No offense to anyone that did but isn't it mostly about following direction? What 18-year old kid cannot follow direction. You don't start out at the top giving orders, you get to be led around by the nose 24/7 basically having all of your decisions made for you.

Now what on earth does THAT have with being a mature responsible adult consuming alcohol? It's a piss pour argument.

The US is the ONLY place I know where 21 is the drinking age. All over Europe they say it's 18, but no one checks. I even saw an eleven year old buy a beer and drink it at a festival! Europeans tend to drink more responsibly because they've been allowed to drink at an early age.

Yes, weed should be legalized because it safer than Alcohol. If alcohol is legal, why can't weed be? One is less violent and more chill with weed...why is it so bad? No one ever had a weed overdose...maybe just a case of paranoia.

Ya know i agree with u about the weed being legal becuz its actually very benefical and if u think about it beer and alcohol is worse because it destroys ur liver andlots of other stuff and not only that but people drinkand most seem to get 10ft tall and bullet proof and wann start crap and fight but how many pot heads do u know that are all violent when their high? weed helps insomnia glacoma nausia and stress and is the same as smoking like 5 cigarettes to 1 joint how ever the drinking age should stay the same because ur body isnt mature enough with some people to handle the effect of alcohol and ur a lil bit more mature at 21 then at 18 and i guess they were hoping that would help u to drink responsilbly .how ever i also think u should be 21 to join the military too

The government makes more money with marijuana illegal. It is too easy to grow and distribute so they are afraid that they wouldnt even be able to tax it, not to mention keep tabs on who is selling.

As far as alcohol, 21 is a very young age. Everyone knows that kids younger than the legal drinking age will drink, so if the legal drinking age is 18, 14 year old kids will be complaining about the legal drinking age. Go to mexico for the weekend, the legal drinking age is 18 there.

I don't know if weed should be considered legal, but drinking age in many countries is 18. But maybe there's a big difference between 18 and 21. I dont know

Drinking age at 18 is a bad idea. They tried it years ago and the traffic fatalities amongst young people skyrocketed. I believe that if your active military, then yes you should be able to drink alcoholic beverages at age 18.

Weed.... I thought it would be legal by now.... too much resistance from the Christian right and the alcohol lobby... Probably never going to happen. Decriminalization is more likely.

If it was only you ... I would give you those rights. But its not. When you give a person a permit to use alcohol, you also have to keep in mind how is that going to effect those around him. For all I know if you are drunk, and driving home from a party you might get in a crash and kill my children.
Also, if weed was legal what would stop any one from doing it. For example, if I want my children to grow up without weed, and you hang out with them all the time and smoke weed in their presence wherever you go... that's your thing why should it have to be theirs.
About Iraq, no one is making you go to Iraq, that is your own choice, no one made you sign up for army, its your fault if you couldn't do anything better with your own life (I'm not saying you didn't, I'm just talking in general)

Pot - in small doses, for recreational use. Only at home and not while driving. It should be legal at 21. (one ounce or less at a time)

drinking age is right where it should be. You CHOOSE to join the military at 18. But you CAN wait until 21.
