Well, Spain wanted to be closer to Poland, but a few other countries got there first. Also Spain liked the water, so she had to be near the ocean. Poland, on the other hand, couldn't swim, so she had to stay as far away from water as she could. Being so different, it was just impossible for them to get very close.

Is somebody wanting a vacation on the Costa del Sol? LOL. This is a funny question and I could answer you with a dissertation on plate tectonics, but that is probably not what you are looking for.
I can't decide either if you mean physically or culturally. In the second case, I'd have to give you a lengthy rundown of anthropology and sociology. You probably don't want that either.

Because being far away they can keep loving each other! If they were close the would get bored and anoyed and would start fighting like Poland-Germany, Poland-Russia, etc.

Mikey, MIkey, Poland has a wonderful sea coast, cool weather and beautiful people.
Spain is too hot, too overbuilt and overcrowded...
