Energy.
Energy cannot be destroyed or created. It just is.
Energy moves through things and becomes things - our meats, bones, cells, and all of them are controlled and composed by Energy. They maintain their form from energy. Doubt me? Go find a science book and read about protons and electrons and how they make up everything in this world - including you.
Now, when we die, that Energy doesn't dissapear. It gets disperesed. It becomes something else. We are part of energy that has existed and will continue to exist.
The main reincarnation argument is this: can we actually "impress" the energy that composes us with different energies? Can we connect one stream of energy to another, and thus, form an everlasting impression onto a strand of energy in this universe that would've otherwise not existed?
Some people say we do not affect energy, and thus when we die and it goes away - it has no memory or concept of us ever using it.
Some people say we do affect the energy, and our creation, subtraction, or mixing in the world creates connections, or substractions or mixes in with other energies which remain contant even after death - and thus, "us" remain to be used and influence those strands for all eternity.

Reincarnation, literally "to be made flesh again", as a doctrine or mystical belief, holds the notion that some essential part of a living being (or in some variations, only human beings) can survive death in some form, with its integrity partly or wholly retained, to be reborn in a new body. This part is often referred to as the Spirit or Soul, the 'Higher or True Self', 'Divine Spark', 'I' or the 'Ego' (not to be confused with the ego as defined by psychology).
In such beliefs, a new personality is developed during each life in the physical world, based upon past integrated experience and new acquired experiences, but some part of the being remains constantly present throughout these successive lives as well. It is usually believed that there is interaction between predeterminism of certain experiences, or lessons intended to happen during the physical life, and the free-will action of the individual as they live that life.
This doctrine is a central tenet within the majority of Indian religious traditions such as Yoga, Vaishnavism, Jainism and Sikhism. Buddhist concept of Rebirth, a major part of Buddhist philosophy, differs from the Vedic based traditions, teaches that our "self" (soul) does not reincarnate. Many modern Pagans also believe in reincarnation as do some new Age movements, along with followers of Spiritism, practitioners of certain African traditions, and students of esoteric philosophies.

we do reincarnate. i saw a documentary on tv where many people remember their past lives, and the researchers helped them prove it. usually kids remember their past lives more than adults.
i'm sure there are many theories of why we reincarnate, but as a person who likes to read about buddhism, i've learnt that we reincarnate because we have unfulfilled desires, promises, people you want to thank or revenge, and because of karma. if you reached buddhahood, you will be free from these desires and will not reincarnate. i've read that christians used to teach about reincarnation, but because of political reasons the pope took it out of the bible. whether this is true i don't really know.
there are some people who have been to the afterlife (and came back). they say that right after you die you reach a place... neither hell/heaven, but as the chinese call it, "yin" zone. you then go to a judge and s/he will show you a flashback of your past life, and give you a sentence. if you are supposed to go to hell, you go there for however many "years" you have to stay there for, then on the day you "get out" you just disappear in a flash of light (literally) and find yourself in a womb.
believe it or not, it's up to you.

Reincarnation does not mean we are going to come back in any form. We are matter and since matter cannot die we just pass on into other forms of life. We become worm food or fertilizer. This process is repeated over and over till we are spread out all over.

re cycle mate, fuel of the future, we could burn the corpses and heat the houses for free, or we could end wars altogether by eating the unemployed, there would be no soldiers to fight, unemployment is the only reason any body joins the military anyway. then we could eat any politician who we voted out of power, that way no big fat pensions to pay ,we could spend the money on medical treatment for obeseity with all protein rich food we would have a overabundance of animals remaining with all that methane we could save on petrol by running the vehicles on it ,no more greenhouse gas and with such a overabundace of fuel we would not need to cut so many trees down, with less population we would not need so many houses and wooden furniture all the furniture makers and lumber men would become unemployed thus perpetuating the natural cycle, and you could eventually recycle the natural electric energy within the human body no need to re incarnate, burn em then eat em, its th only way forward. regards LF

I wondered the same thing. If we were all re-incarnated, then there must've been a GA-Zillion animals & insects to be re-incarnated from back in the day, cuz there is a GA-Zillion of us here now!
