It's different for all women. Some can get pregnant in 1-2 months. I think the average would probably be 3-6 months but don't get discouraged if it takes longer. Good luck!

Got pregnant by accident and miscarried first; when I was given permission by my doctor to try after the miscarriage, got pregnant in the first month. The longest it took me to get pregnant was two months, and my doc said probably because I was still nursing my first one, which can affect your hormone levels.
I agree with what a couple of the other people have said -- it helps to know what you're doing as far as ovulation. There isn't a rigid formula, so you need to be aware of YOUR body. Something they didn't mention is that sperm take 24-48 hours to recover, so if you want to conceive, it's best NOT to have sex every day, but every other day. We would start a day or so after my period finished, and have sex every other day until I ovulated.
Keep in mind that not every woman ovulates every month, either.

I'm one of the lucky ones of my generation. When I wasn't using protection, I didn't get pregnant, although there were many tense moments because my first sexual experience was date rape. Once I married, I had no trouble conceiving at all. Almost every time I tried to lose weight, the next thing I knew, I was pregnant! Meanwhile, one of my friends took over 10 years to conceive the first time. I wanted at least three children and he would have had many more if we could have afforded them. I would had left home if I had had a houseful of little boys. I just had one sister growing up and just 2 male first cousins among a bunch a female first cousins! Now my sons are just fine. Everyone survived in one piece and I am proud of all of my family.

One try both times. We timed it just right. The egg only stays viable for 12 hours after ovulation. So, just before ovulation is best (a day or 2). It is also best to not try and try and try. It only dilutes the amount of sperm available at each successive try. Good luck!

I was on the pill for 8 years and went off and had my normal period and never got another. They say I got pregnant a week or so after that. So really quickly for me. We kind of timed it 14 days from when I first started my period. That's what most books and online info says. Good luck.

About 4 months of unprotected sex. But we were not attempting to purposely try. So no special ovulation dates or nothing, just natural and unplanned.

There is a great website to help with this:
www.fertilityfriend.com
It will help you chart your cycles, and let you know the best time to try to get pregnant.
Also, you'll want to try a few days before you ovulate, not the day of ovulation.
The website will give you plenty of information.
Good luck!
