Go the classic rock route. You won't be dissapointed. This music is far better than anything that's playing on popular radio today.

Led Zeppelin
The Beatles
The Who
The Rolling Stones
The Byrds
The Doors
Pink Floyd
Jimi Hendrix
Big Brother and the Holding Company
Janis Joplin
Jethro Tull
Jefferson Airplane
The Allman Brothers
The Band

Also I recommend these musicians and bands.

The Grateful Dead
Yonder Moutain String Band
Muddy Waters
Robert Johnson
Bob Marley
Phish
Dave Matthews
Widespread Panic
Bela Fleck
Ben Harper
Jack Johnson
Lucinda Williams
James McMurtry
Susan Tedeschi

Also you can never go wrong with classic country.

Im not too in to pop-y things either..but Im not sure if you consider Panic! At The Disco pop, but they are awesome. Check out their debut CD A Fever You Cant Sweat Out if you get the chance! Also some other bands are Cobra Starship, Motion CIty Soundtrack, This Providence, October Fall, and others =)

There's a great band called the Postal Service. They only had one album. The lead singer was from a band called Death Cab for Cutie. Would be worth checking out on iTunes to see if you like :)

Have you tried Panic! at the Disco. If that is too pop-y then try Nine Inch Nails.
