You will probably need to contact Vodafone and enable MMS on your plan. Sometimes the tel co is unable to do that so they will give you a free call number to contact Motorola and they will enable MMS.
I had the same problem with a Sagem phone.

I had that problem when I bought my Motorola V3x. When I rang the operator I was advised.
1) Switch phone off.
2) Remove battery and sim card.
3) Replace everything and then try again.

This worked for me!
If still having problems ring voda!

even if u think ur settings are correct and it still doesnt seem to work, try sending to few different networks. my o2 motorola v3 sent media messages to orange and o2 but wouldnt send to vodafone or t-mobile. tried another simcard to prove it, then they replaced my handset and then media messages sent to all networks.no-one could explain it! worth a try if u've followed all the other answers with no success! good luck!

contact motorola and ask them to give you the mms settings over the air, save the settings as the default. & then send a mms to your own phone number. this way u can confirm if u can send & receive mms on ur phone, if successfull , then try to send it to another phone number .
