the optima battery is lead acid but it does charge faster and lasts longer don't get the yellow top one the warranty is no good
the one in my car is 8 years old and is running strong

Go with Optima. I ran my car with a dead alternator for 3 days on a fully charged Optima. It's (imo) the best battery on the market.

Nickel-Cadmium or Lithium batteries are better than Lead batteries. You better use them for your car. Initially they cost more, but use wise they are good and have a more life.
