We know exactly where any untaxed car is located among the millions of cars in Britain. But we haven't got a clue as to where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located. Maybe we should put the DVLA in charge of immigration

Absolute tosh... as already has been stated the DVLA only know about the cars registered with them in the UK... there will be thousands of cars on the road with out TAX registered in foreign countys.... ironicly driven by the very same immigrates you speak of... a legal immigrant will be registered so they get a work permit ....this permit is like your cars tax, they know where they live work etc... its the ones that are not on the register that are 'illigal' like the cars that are not on the database...they are hard to trace... plus not all immigrants are terrorists...

spot on prime minister!! i think the resason why the DVLA are looking for untaxed cars is because of the bleedin revenue they loose and nothing more, ur average immigrant or terrorist doesnt have to pay the government for being here so quite frankly they just dont care

Illegible immigrants of job seekers. This is a human issue. No doubt there is violation of law. All these people have no concern about terrorism. Recently arrested terrorist are British born misguided youngsters. The matter is really serious.

That is a very good point, maybe they should be in charge. However the government doesnt make money out of finding immigrants and terrorists so perhaps their motivation for carrying this out is somewhat limited W.NKERS

lol, good point. The same here in the USA. They can track down millions that owe taxes but cannot tract down illegal immigrants. Maybe we should put the IRS in charge of immigration

Interesting idea!
I've always thought that here in America we would be better off if we had our Banks handle our voting. They could shut down for banking on election day and they have personnel who are good (really good) at counting and keeping records. No recounts needed! But I ramble... what was your question?

Heard it before, I'm afraid.........
What the DVLA actually say is that they know exactly whether your car is taxed or not. Ie: They don't need to see the car without a tax disc to know that you haven't bought one.
So doesn't it stand to reason that they don't need to find these criminal immigrants because they already know exactly how many SHOULD have been deported already!!

Not strictly true.Untaxed cars can be traced only if they are registered with the DVLA.There are probably many many thousands that are not even registered.
