That is exactly right!!!!!! I give everyone the benefit of the doubt but as soon as they treat me with lack of respect for no real reason they have lost the privelage of my friendship for good. As a result I have a handful of friends who I can honestly say are true friends who I know I can trust 100%. I would much rather that than have lots of associates who can sometimes betray my trust!!!!!!

I would have said that at one time I would have let people treat me as badly as I would let them, but I turned into a older wiser kick a**s mama and never allowed anyone to treat me badly now, I got myself some confidence, saw through the facade of so called friends and I realised I didn't and don't need their hurt and nastiness in my life, hence I now treat as I find.

In general, yes. Sometimes, it can't be helped--but mostly, if people treat you badly, you can either stand up to them or get them out of your life.

No, thats a myth to blame people for what happens to them.
Generally people know the difference between 'good' and 'bad' behaviour and they choose what they want to do. You can't stop people acting like jerks. While its usually possible to cut down contact with most of them, if they're family or work colleagues there are times when you have to suffer their company.
While you can be assertive and make it clear where your boundaries are, you can't control other peoples behaviour.

Stalkers are a good example of that. It doesn't matter how much you distance yourself; they won't quit until they choose to.

Yes. Excellent observation! It isn't always easy to stop them treating you badly, though, however much you kick back.

Yes. If you allow people to trample on your feelings once then they will continue to do so.
Stand up for yourself at all times.
We all deserve to be treated with courtesy & respect & so we should demand it, not complain when we do not get it.

Yes, unless they are submissive or masochists who want and accept domination and pain without retaliation. Sadly that cliche is true, nice guys DO finish last.

Most definately. If people see you as a doormat then they'll wipe their feet on you. If they see you're not a person to be messed with they'll be polite and nice.

Absolutely.

Unfortunately, there is no place in the world for nice people. I find that it is much more profitable to be aloof and arrogant.
