Travis Hafner.
Here are the reasons...
1. Hafner has hit 38 hommers (2nd in AL) with 110 RBI's (2nd in AL) and 91 runs (4th in AL) scored by 8/20 while by the same date konerko has only hit 27 hommers (10th in AL) with 86 RBI's (13th in AL) and 76 runs scored (18th in AL).

2. He is younger and leads his teasm unlike konerko who is older and has two other power hitters on his team.

Finally he didnt make the all star team bc he is very underrated even though he broke the records for grand slams before and after the all star break. that is why Hafner is better.

Hafner is by far. However, how all-star game rosters are determined are different.

Since this was being played in an National League park, fans couldnt really vote in a DH, which is the usual role for Hafner. Instead Hafner was listed as an eligible 1B on the ballot. In the end however, he lost out to David Ortiz.

As for Konerko, he was either voted in by the players or picked by the manager of the AL team (Ozzie Guillen).

Hafner's better this season, standing out on a team that isn't hitting as well for power as the Sox are.

Konerko's sandwiched inbetween two other power hitters, so he doesn't stand out as much. But there's no doubt Paulie stepped up last year in the playoffs with some huge blasts that put the Sox up early in games, giving the starters a lot of cushion.

And so nice to see Red Sux fans with their usual idiotic contributions based solely on getting their heads handed to them last year by the Good Guys in Black.

I would go with Paul Konerko. Hafner is good, but Konerko is the leader of the defending World Series Champions. He's proved himself. Hafner hasn't done anything yet.

Konerko. Hafner is younger and has more to prove.

Konerko was Mr Clutch in the playoffs last year, how about that grand slam?

Hafner needs to keep it up longer and go on a tear in the playoffs.
