I can't decide either, because I have to point out that Materazzi was only partially at fault for the entire headbutting incident. Yes, insulting people's mothers and sisters is highly offensive and should be punished. But so should headbutting people in the chest. Zidane could have easily ignored the insult and went on with the game, perhaps even saying a few words (nice ones, of course) with Materazzi after the match. After all, he DID know that the insults were simply lies and attempts to provoke him. When Zidane chose to headbutt Materazzi instead, it only means that both sides were at fault, and Materazzi should not be receiving all of the blame.

Also, it would be better not to call people names, whether they have done wrongs or not, wouldn't that be the case for a civilized person?

Neither for me.

In my opinion, Materazzi might have said something uncomplimentary or he might not have, however I feel Zidane is the one at fault. Really, he didn't behave well at all.

What he did was neither cool nor was it moral. You might say that Materazzi was asking for it by being an asshole, but if Zidane is really so great then he needs to maintain a higher moral standard. Needed to really.

The deed has been done and he should have apologised. So he didn't and if he feels sorry for it 20 years later and someone asks him about it he can say so. Cantona did apologise for the kung fu kick he did ages ago in an interview with the local paper (telephone call) a few days ago.

Zidane ought to be sorry not because he gave kiddy-winks something nasty to aspire to--it's an idiot of a kid who learns things like that--he ought to be sorry because he's shown himself to be less than moral. Less than what a man should be.

Still, I don't particularly dislike either of them, I do however feel that you should stop harping on about this. It's unhealthy. Zidane--if he were a good person would not want you to be this way.

Get over it, try it better 4 years later!
Materazzi might say something nasty that hurts others. But Zizou was way worse for using violence on the pitch.
Materazzi was the only one who scored in the world cup final as a matter of fact.
If you’re into the diving/ cheat talk, how about Malouda dived in the box (yeah…. Materazzi ticked his little toe!)

Too short to me. If I was French-hater as you are Italian-hater, I should suggest 'butt-head' and 'Z-dumb' for your av to have the right balancement, but I'm not so childish, and I prefer long Native meaningful names, i.e.
'The - only - one - to - score - two - goals - in - final' and
'The - other - who - would - but - was - sent - off - like - an - idiot'

You NEVER take a life, don't you?

Anyway, see you soon with real football on 06 Sept.

None it is the game of football to win you have to do anything you can. he just saw Zizou week of point and he insult him . to makes him mad and react the way he did. so that he will miss the penalty and they will win and it does work. he is genius poor Zizou just fell for it and France got lost. I still love him though
